TTCF members, Prof Robert Machang’u and Ms Lutgard Kokulinda Kagaruki, participated in the Legal and Human Rights Centre Monitor’s Workshop on 14 and 15th April 2008 in Morogoro. Prof Machang’u presented a paper on the Tobacco Products Regulation Act (TPRA) (2003) and the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC); while, Ms Kagaruki presented information on tobacco cultivation and problems associated with tobacco use in Tanzania

TTCF members visited Mtonya village in Namtumbo District in October 2006, for an on-the spot observation of the plight of resource-poor tobacco farmers. After realising their pain and agony, farmers were encouraged to change to alternative crops or other sources of livelihood.
